40th Anniversary Ski Trip

This year we celebrated our 40th Anniversary of Ski Trip on March 30-April 6. We once again spent the week at Winter Park Ski Resort and stayed at the Snow Mountain Ranch facility of the YMCA of the Rockies. For many of those going this year it feels like a second home. There is an incredible history and legacy that surrounds the Ski Trip. Legacy is actually the theme for the entire year for 2nd Mile Adventures. On Ski Trip we were able to discuss what this looks like and how we need to be thinking of the legacy that we are following, and the legacy that we leave for those who come behind us. We talked about the need to be thinking of the impact that we can and do have on those around us. Nothing really matters if we do not have our own legacy founded in Christ.

We also had an amazing week on the slopes. We had fresh powder almost every evening, which made skiing first thing in the morning pretty awesome!! I think everyone was stretched in some way this year and had a great time on the slopes. We had several first-timers who did amazing skiing in the Rockies for the first time. The mountains can be a bit intimidating, but they took on the challenge and did great. We finished out the week injury free, which is always a bonus!! The only casualty the entire week was the minibus on the way home. Sadly, we had to leave the minibus on the other side of Nebraska as we lost the transmission. The Lord watched over us through it all and it made for good memories. It was an all around great week to spend with each other in the mountains.
